Break That Grip!
I hope your week is off to a good start. I’m scrambling to keep up with technology and AI. It feels a bit like a rip current to me.
I can get swept away with all these emails, offers, and promotions coming my way and then completely lose my whole day.
Many marketers are studying and perfecting neurolinguistic programming to get us hooked.
People ask me, “What is Break That Grip?” I apply the term to anything that keeps me from doing my own thinking… my own critical thinking.
Here’s my very first blog post from a few years ago, explaining my S.O.A.R. strategy, which I use to break free from fear, depression, and anxiety that sets in when I realize I’m letting others control my thoughts. This blog focuses on the letter S which stands for stop.
I was miserable last night after a whole day of trying to figure out what was important and what was not on my computer screen. After tossing and turning all night, I vowed to stop getting addicted to the screen and start my day off with something I love to do… play my guitar. Starting the day off that way gave me better leverage for proceeding through the day, just like wearing fins in the ocean gives you power and leverage over the waves.
I hope you can STOP today and ask yourself, “Am I getting swept away doing something that I don’t love to do because someone is urgently promoting “fear of missing out?” Try to pay attention to what gives you power and leverage and add that to your day.
As technology advances, I must use the S.O.A.R. strategy to remain sane.
